Paskunji
Meet Pablo, the Gamo-Khate Mestia artist from Guria, Georgia
The hero of his piece is Paskunji - dragon-like bird found in Georgian mythology and folklore.
Paskunji is distinguished by its immense strength and insatiable appetite. Its wings possess magical powers: the touch of a feather can heal wounds, and burning one of its feathers can summon the creature. Paskunji dwells in the underworld and, in return for saving its offspring from a dragon, carries a hero back to the upper world.
Georgian Street Art FederationPaskunji is a mythical-fabulous bird which lives underworld (Kveskneli). It could transport heroes (mzechabuki), help and protect them.
Today, the name is also used for the endangered Egyptian vulture.

The Egyptian vulture (Neophron percnopterus) is a small Old World vulture known for its white plumage, yellow face, and distinctive wedge-shaped tail. It is globally classified as Endangered on the IUCN Red List, with populations declining due to poisoning, habitat loss, and reduced food availability.
In Georgia, the species still occurs mainly in mountainous and semi-arid regions, where it breeds in cliffs and rocky landscapes, particularly in the Caucasus foothills, though it has become increasingly rare in recent decades.
