Frida Kahlo
Frida Kahlo portrait on the wall of Check Point Hotel in the Betlemi district of Tbilisi.
The work is a copy of the Frida Kahlo mural in the Palermo district of Buenos Aires, Argentina, and serves as a tribute to the iconic Mexican painter, depicted with a cigarette and flowers in her hair. The original mural measures 9 meters in height and 7 meters in width and was painted in June 2015 by a collective of three artists: Julián Campos Segovia, Jean Paul Jesses, and Juan Carlos Campos.
Today, the mural has become one of the most iconic Instagram spots in Tbilisi.
Check Point Hotel offers simple yet comfortable rooms, some of which are equipped with kitchen facilities, making longer stays convenient.
Frida’s Cafe, part of the hotel, is open at all times and is especially charming, featuring an atmospheric terrace with panoramic views of the city - a perfect spot, also ideal for taking photos in front of the famous mural. The staff are very friendly, though they speak mainly Russian rather than English.
