Barbare Jorjadze

The mural is part of the Cabinet of Georgian Feminists project and is located in the National Library of the Parliament of Georgia. It was unveiled on March 8, 2017, International Women's day, on the occation of the opening of the Barbare Jorjadze Room, the first reading room in Georgia to be named after a woman.

It pays tribute to the writer and the first Georgian feminist of the 19th century, Barbare Jorjadze and traces the development of feminim in Georgia from its beginnings to the present day.

The mural was created as part of an initiative by Georgian feminists in cooperation with the National Library, with the support of the Women's Fund Georgia, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Government of Sweden.

Das Mural war Teil des Projekts Kabinett der georgischen Feministinnen und befindet sich in der Nationalbibliothek des georgischen Parlaments. Enthüllt wurde es am 8. März 2017, dem Internationalen Frauentag, anlässlich der Eröffnung des Barbare Jorjadze’s Room - des ersten Lesesaals in Georgien, der nach einer Frau benannt ist.

Es würdigt die Schriftstellerin und erste georgische Feministin des 19. Jahrhunderts, Barbare Jorjadze, und zeigt die Entwicklung des Feminismus in Georgien von seinen Anfängen bis heute.

Entstanden ist das Mural im Rahmen einer Initiative georgischer Feministinnen in Zusammenarbeit mit der Nationalbibliothek, unterstützt vom Women’s Fund of Georgia, dem UN-Entwicklungsprogramm (UNDP) und der Regierung Schwedens.
