Gagosh (Giorgi Gagoshidze) is a Georgian painter, stencil artist and activist based in Tbilisi. He is arguably the most active street art artist in Georgia, remaining continuously creative from the very beginning until today. There is hardly any significant event in Georgia without a visual or artistic comment by Gagosh.

He is also one of the few street art artists in Georgia who uses his work deliberately for political statements. Often compared to Banksy, he lives up to this reference through his creativity, wit, and artistic skill, with each new piece unfolding as a striking display of inventiveness and satire.

At first glance, his visual language appears playful and childlike, but quickly reveals sharp social critique. Gagosh mainly works with stencils combined with painting and uniquely incorporates the existing urban environment into his compositions. Pipes, poles, windows, and metal structures become integral parts of his works, making him a true master of the street.

Street art is not for people searching for art. These people go to a gallery. Street art is for everyone, that’s the point. It could be a beggar or a student, they see themselves and it matters. It is my job to seize their attention, be a street terrorist. Then I go away.
